Because most advice out there makes it feel exactly that way. Strict systems. Perfect routines. Pressure to do it right. Guilt when you do not. But real family life does not work like that – and we both knew it.

We are Nina and Tig, two multilingual mamas raising our kids across languages, countries and school systems. Between us we speak several languages, have lived in multiple countries, and have made pretty much every mistake in the multilingual parenting book.

We have had the child who refused to speak our language for months. We have felt the guilt of an inconsistent week. We have navigated the school language takeover, the sceptical partner, the well-meaning grandparent who asked if we were confusing the kids.

And we have come out the other side with something that actually works – not because we are experts, but because we kept going, stayed curious, and chose connection over perfection every time.

Multilingual Mamas exists to give families the practical, honest, no-pressure support we wished we had found earlier. Everything here is rooted in real family life – not academic research papers or one-size-fits-all systems.

We write for families raising kids with two languages, three languages, minority languages, heritage languages, non-native languages. For families who are doing their best with what they have – which, we promise you, is enough.
